A Review of the Shakeology Ingredients

While there’s certainly no end to the selection of meal replacement shakes on the market today, most leave a lot to be desired. Loaded with sugar, artificial ingredients, and low-quality ingredients, these “so-called” healthy meal replacement products are anything but.
On the other hand, the ingredients label is where Shakeology truly shines. When Beachbody began to formulate what would become Shakeology, each ingredient added to the mix was chosen for a very specific reason and sourced from the highest-quality providers available today.
Unlike other meal replacements, Shakeology ingredients are derived from whole food sources — you never have to worry about consuming exotic synthetic extracts or isolates when you drink a Shakeology shake. Also, it’s important to note that Shakeology contains absolutely no artificial sweeteners such as sucralose and aspartame, and the whey protein used in the product is certified to be 100% free of antibiotics.

A few ingredients…

Açaí berry
One of the most antioxidant-rich fruits in the world. It has 10 times the antioxidant level of grapes and twice that of blueberries.

Supports the healthy regulation of intestinal flora, healthy elimination and healthy immune system. Compared to sugar it contains low rations of simple sugars and calories and also has a low glycemic index.

Maca Root
For thousands of years, Inca warriors consumed Maca root, an ancient super food, to increase their strength and endurance. Peruvians also claim that Maca improves memory and digestive health, and fights depression.

Sacha Inchi
A unique peanut found in regions of the Peruvian high jungle, where Amazonian tribes have cultivated it for thousands of years. It is an excellent source of omega-3, -6 and -9 fatty acids.

Originally found in the Amazon Rainforest, Camu-Camu has the highest recorded amount of natural vitamin C known on the planet—30 times more than oranges.

Whey Protein Isolate
Out of the many protein sources available, whey protein is the ultimate. It has the highest value in providing branched-chain amino acids, which aid in building and retaining muscle tissue.

It’s been shown to help prevent hardening of the arteries by reducing blood vessel damage and contains antioxidants like polyphenols, tannins and anthocyanins effective in removing free radicals from our cells.

Goji Berry
Time magazine (July 24, 2006) declared goji berry as the breakthrough super fruit of the year. Goji berries contain 18 amino acids, including all 8 essential amino acids and are one of the richest sources of carotenoids of all known foods or plants.

Green Tea
Green Tea is rich in compounds called “catechin polyphenols” particularly epigallocatechin gallate (EGOG), which is a powerful antioxidant that has been shown to help inhibit the growth of cancer cells. It has also been effective in helping lower LDL cholesterol levels and inhibiting the abnormal formation of blood clots.
